Dallas Roberts Cast As New Character Milton In Season 3 Of The Walking Dead

Dallas Roberts has been cast as a new character name Milton in Season 3 of The Walking Dead. Joining new characters Michonne and The Governor, Milton is a resident of Woodbury and is described by Robert Kirkman as a “details guy”. Kirkman goes on to describe the character:

“He’s the guy that works with the Governor, who is monitoring all situations and is trying to help the Governor make sense of this world that they’re living in. He’s not exactly a scientist, but he’s a smart guy that is trying to find out how zombies behave. Watching him do his little experiments is going to be a lot of fun.”

According to Show Runner Glen Mazzara, Milton is a man who has found a way to make himself useful.

“We were examining, ‘How do people survive in this apocalyptic world, and what can people contribute?’. And we didn’t think it was plausible that every single character we meet is an efficient zombie killer. We just didn’t buy that everyone we know would be active and deft enough to kill every walker. We wanted to show how other people survive, and Dallas has come in and helped us establish that character. He just adds a lot of heart and humanity to Woodbury, which further complicates what that is. That is a real town with real people and real survivors. It’s not necessarily a group of bad guys.”

Dallas Roberts is an American stage and screen actor who is best known for his roles in the T.V. show “The Good Wife”, and AMC’s “Rubicon” among other things.

New Walking Dead Novel Coming In October

Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga have written a brand new Walking Dead novel entitled “The Walking Dead: Road To Woodbury”, which is a follow up to the New York Times Best-Selling Novel “The Walking Dead: Rise Of The Governor” and will be the second book of a trilogy of Walking Dead books. Published by St. Martin’s Press, “The Walking Dead: Road To Woodbury” hardcover which is written by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga will be priced at $24.99 and will span 288 pages. The book will hit the shelves on October 16th, 2012.

Below is the publisher’s summary for the new book:

The zombie plague unleashes its horrors on the suburbs of Atlanta without warning, pitting the living against the dead. Caught in the mass exodus, Lilly Caul struggles to survive in a series of ragtag encampments and improvised shelters. But the Walkers are multiplying. Dogged by their feral hunger for flesh and crippled by fear, Lilly relies on the protection of good Samaritans by seeking refuge in a walled-in town once known as Woodbury, Georgia.

At first, Woodbury seems like a perfect sanctuary. Squatters barter services for food, people have roofs over their heads, and the barricade expands, growing stronger every day. Best of all, a mysterious self-proclaimed leader named Philip Blake keeps the citizens in line. But Lilly begins to suspect that all is not as it seems… . Blake, who has recently begun to call himself The Governor, has disturbing ideas about law and order.

Ultimately, Lilly and a band of rebels open up a Pandora’s box of mayhem and destruction when they challenge The Governor’s reign … and the road to Woodbury becomes the highway to hell in this riveting follow-up to the New York Times bestselling The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor.

Robert Kirkman Hit With Another Tony Moore Lawsuit

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has been hit with yet another lawsuit from Tony Moore. After suing Kirkman over unpaid royalties due to him for his work on The Walking Dead comic, Moore will now be suing Kirkman for co-authorship of The Walking Dead. Moore claims that Kirkman is a “proud liar and fraudster” and has no problems about misrepresenting material facts.

Tony Moore:

“Kirkman is a proud liar and fraudster who freely admits that he has no qualm about misrepresenting material facts in order to consummate business transactions, and it is precisely that illicit conduct which led to the present lawsuit (and to Kirkman’s business ‘success’ generally).”

Allen Grodzky, Kirkman’s lawyer, says that he thinks that Moore’s new lawsuit will not hold up in court.

“His lawyer finally realized, ‘Oh crap, we filed in the wrong place,’ our position is that it is never going to get to that issue because he is never going to be able to show fraud, plus the statute of limitations on co-ownership has passed. Also, he’s not a co-owner.”

Kirkman himself has said previously that Tony Moore was paid for his work and does receive royalties and that Moore is the one who is in violation of the contract.

“Tony regularly receives payment for the work he did as penciler, inker and for gray tones on the first six issues of The Walking Dead comic series and he receives royalties for the TV show, to assert otherwise is simply incorrect.”

Robert Kirkman has counter-sued Tony Moore claiming that Moore was actually overpaid for his work on The Walking Dead comic,  and that he (Kirkman) is entitled to get some of that money back.

Tony Moore was the artist on The Walking Dead comic who drew the first six issues of the series and was replaced by Charlie Adlard. Kirkman and Moore have been friends since childhood.

Sarah Wayne Callies Says Lori Must Die **COMIC SPOILERS!**

THIS POST CONTAINS BOTH COMIC SPOILERS, IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE COMICS DO NOT READ THIS POST!

Interviewed at The Walking Dead issue #100 release party, Sarah Wayne Callies said that she thinks that Lori must die in Season 3, but before that she talked a little about Lori and Rick’s relationship and how Shane’s death affected their relationship.

“The bomb that went off between Rick and Lori in the final episode of the second season was not, ‘Oh my God, you told me to kill Shane, oh my God, you killed Shane’ — the bomb that went off was I wanted to kill Shane.”

Callies goes on to say that she felt that Lori “did everything she could to handle Shane; she didn’t tell Rick to kill him, she told him to watch his back and she was right — and the right man ended up winning that fight,” and that:

“Lori’s fear is that in killing Shane, Rick became Shane and that he’s turned into a man who’s not a humane, compassionate person but somebody who is now somewhat cold and bloodthirsty.”

Finally, Callies goes on to tell us that Frank Darabont and herself argued over Lori dying.

“[Former Walking Dead showrunner] Frank Darabont and I actually — before he was tragically and unfairly removed from the show — we used to argue about it. I argued that it was necessary to kill Lori and I feel very strongly that for all of the other deviations we may have from the comic book, killing Lori does something to Rick that is vital for the story and can’t be done any other way. I’ve said from the beginning, not only am I OK with Lori dying but I think she has to, I’ve played this character with an eye toward an end.”

This article not only contains an interview with Sarah Wayne Callies, also commenting on Rick and Lori’s relationship are Andrew Lincoln, Robert Kirkman, and Glen Mazzara and I would highly recommend reading The Hollywood Reporter article.

IFC.com Interview Glen Mazzara **COMIC & T.V. SHOW SPOILERS!**

THIS POST CONTAINS BOTH COMIC (UP TO ISSUE #100) AND T.V. SHOW SPOILERS (UP TO SEASON 2 FINALE) IF YOU HAVEN’T READ OR SEEN EITHER DO NOT READ ON!!!

IFC.com got a chance to interview Glen Mazzara about Season 3 at this year’s Saturn Awards and apparently he can’t wait for us fans to see the new episodes!

“Where we ended up last year, that kind of frenetic adrenalized pace, that’s where we’re picking up. And I really feel — we’re just finishing editing the fifth episode, we’ve delivered the script for eight — it’s a thrill ride. People are really going to say, ‘It’s too intense, they’re burning through story too fast, they’re going too fast, they need to slow down, duh duh.’ I guarantee fans are going to be excited, there’s no way you can tell what’s coming next. It’s really great when the actors get a script and they say, ‘Oh my god, we’re really doing this?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, we’re doing it.’ So it’s exciting and I think that where we ended up last year is our starting point, and then we pick up the pace.”

He then goes on to talk about Michonne and The Governor

Michonne:

“There’s an exciting new energy, Michonne is out there and she’s kicking ass and she feels fresh and exciting, and she comes into our world and meets our characters. It’s an interesting dynamic. It’s something that’s sort of puzzling to our characters. Who is this badass with the sword? That’s hard to figure out.”

The Governor:

“The Governor is a formidable opponent, and I will say he’s an opponent. He’s out there, he’s someone to be afraid of. I think he’s scarier than any zombie out there, any walker. It’s going to be very, very interesting to see him go up against Rick.”

Mazarra then goes on to talk about Sarah Wayne Callies wanting her character to die in the same manner she does in the comics and talks a bit about Shane’s death and Dale’s death.

“All of these folks want a big glorious death. They do. They want a memorable [death]. If you look at what we did with Shane’s death and Dale’s death, those were really emotional moments and what’s nice about our show is when you see deaths in a horror movie, you really don’t cry the way you do on our show when you lose a beloved character. So I think everyone loves working on the show, everyone’s happy, all of that stuff, but yeah they all want their big moment. They want to go out in a blaze of glory.”

And finally, Mazzara talks about Glenn’s death in The Walking Dead Issue #100

“That death in issue 100 was pretty shocking. I thought it was really well done. It’s something that’s really under my skin, but keep in mind that that’s 100 issues in, we’re really just getting into the Governor and Michonne, which I think is issues 20 or something like that, so we have a ways to go. But I know Steven Yeun is very nervous — I don’t want to spoil anything — and I’ve been asked this question before but, I hate to say it, that scene’s really stuck in my head. It’s a good scene. So we’ll see what happens.”
